In 1999, Marta Stojić Mitrović began her studies of ethnology and anthropology at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, and she graduated in 2003. In 2004, she began her MPhil studies of anthropology at the Faculty of Social Sciences in Ljubljana. After she defended her dissertation, “The Erased of Slovenia as a Discursive Phenomenon: a Pragmatic Approach“, she received MPhil degree in 2009. In the same year she began her doctoral studies at the Department of ethnology and anthropology of the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade.  She defended her PhD dissertation “Asylum and the Irregular Migrations in Serbia at the Beginning of the XXI Century” in 2016.

She works at the Institute of Ethnography SASA in Belgrade since 2007, where she researched issues of migrations, citizenship, human rights and discriminations first within the project “Ethnicity: contemporary processes in Serbia, neighbouring countries and diaspora“ and later within the project “Multiethnicity, Multiculturalism, migrations – contemporary processes“.  She is actively involved in networking of the scientific researchers of the issue of migrations in Serbia as well as in the region. She took part in several international conferences both in Serbia and abroad.

She speaks English and Slovenian, and she also uses French. She published several scientific articles, as are the following:
