This anthropological study by Gordana Blagojević, PhD, explores the position and role of music in the Orthodox Christianity from a diachronic perspective, as well as the interrelations between religion, society, music, spirituality, and education. The book is the result of the author`s longstanding interest in Byzantine music, as she is both a professional chanter and an ethnologist/anthropologist.
