Miroslava Lukić Krstanović was born in Belgrade. She finished undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the Department of Ethnology and Anthropology, at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade. She has been employed at the Ethnographic Institute in Belgrade SASA since 1982.
She worked on several projects in the Ethnographic institute, researching ethnicity and overseas emigration. During the 1984 she was receiving the scholarship of the Ministry of Science for researching emigration to Canada. The results of this research have been published as the monograph Serbs in Canada – life and identity symbols (EI SASA publication).
She researched ethnic minority problems in the neighboring countries (the example of Serbian ethnic minority in Hungary, Battonya) in the team with Mirjana Pavlović during 1990ies.
Last ten years her focus is on the cultural studies and anthropology of communication. Her main interests are relations of culture and politics. Her work on the projects of the Institute is focused on the research of public rituals and festivities, with the special interest in the musical spectacle, which is also the theme of her PhD thesis.
She presented the results of her researches at the conferences in the country and abroad (Holland, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, Bulgaria etc.), and in the frame of anthropological associations such as DEMOS, SIEF, EASA, InASEA, Ethnologic society of Serbia etc. She published more than forty papers in domestic and international publications.
Since 1995, Miroslava Lukić Krstanović was the member of international editorial board of DEMOS – Internationale Ethnographische und folkloristische Internationen Redaktion. She also took part in the editorial work of the Ethnographic Institute SASA. For many years she has been a lecturer in Petnica Science Center. Miroslava Lukić Krstanović has won two awards: "Borivoje Drobnjaković" in the field of ethnology.
