The Institute of Ethnography SANU has published the monograph "The European Border Regime and the Externalization of the EU Border Control: Serbia on the Balkan Migration Route" authored by research associate at EI SANU, dr Marta Stojić Mitrović. The monograph presents the complex dynamics of mutual influences between the process of inclusion of Serbia into the European border regime and migration movements on the Serbian section of the Balkan migration route. On the example of Serbia and local practices, the monograph shows and analyzes the phenomenon of externalization of borders, that is, the transfer of border control from one state to the territories and institutions of other states. The text identifies and describes the instruments, actors and discourses through which externalization takes place, as well as the consequences that this process has at the national and local levels.
