The promotion of the book Gregorius Palamas and David Disypatos. Srcipta minora. Versio Serbica will be held in the Amphitheatre of the National Library of Serbia (Skerlićeva 1, Belgrade) on Thursday, May 4th, 2023 at 7:00 pm. The monograph, whose authors are associates of the SASA Institute of Ethnography, Mikonja Knežević, PhD, and Milesa Stefanović-Banović, PhD, offers the first critical edition of the Serbo-Slavic translations of the short writings of Gregorius Palamas and David Disypatos, Byzantine intellectuals from the 14th century. Archival material in the form of the original Serbo-Slavic texts (a total of 25 manuscripts) is presented alongside the Greek original and a translation into the contemporary Serbian language. The critical edition of the writings, which includes varia lectiones, is accompanied by extensive introductory studies, in which the original texts are explained from historical, culturological, philosophical-theological, ethnological and philological aspects. The authors also determine the differences between Serbo-Slavic texts and the Greek versions, while revealing that there were several Greek redactions of the analysed texts. Some of the manuscripts presented in the monograph were discovered by the authors themselves, considering they were unknown to the scientific public until this book. The first edition of the synaxary of Gregorius Palamas, translated and edited by Gavrilo Stefanović Venclović, is presented in the last chapter of the monograph.
