On March 26, 2025, in the "AVA" Hall of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA), the promotion of the "Heroines" project and the celebration of 20 years of the Roma Women's Network of Serbia took place.

In the first part of the program, the numerous attendees and media representatives had the opportunity to watch a documentary dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Roma Women’s Network, attend the launch of the monograph The Power of Change, marking two decades of the Network’s work, and learn more about the most significant research projects conducted by the Roma Women’s Network of Serbia, with a special emphasis on studies related to sexual and reproductive health.

The second part of the program focused on the "Heroines" project, implemented by the Institute of Ethnography SASA in cooperation with the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade, and the Roma Women’s Center "Bibija", with the support of the Center for the Promotion of Science. On this occasion, one of the key project outcomes was presented – the Manual for Mapping the Heritage of Women’s Emancipation – created by a team of academic researchers and local partners who were directly involved in all stages of developing a participatory methodology for documenting the history, practices, and lived experiences of women’s empowerment within the Roma community.

Speakers at the event included Dr. Ivan Đorđević, Gordana Stevanović Govedarica, Sanja Hasanović, Dr. Bojana Bogdanović, and Dr. Milena Jokanović. Introductory remarks were delivered by Dr. Branko Banović, Director of the Institute of Ethnography SANU; Slavica Vasić Mitrović, representative of the Roma Women’s Network of Serbia; Dr. Biljana Sikimić, on behalf of the SASA Committee for the Study of the Life and Customs of the Roma; Danijela Vučićević, Director of the Center for the Promotion of Science; and Maša Elezović from the Trag Foundation.
