The International Scientific Conference “Contemporary Serbian Folklore Studies 17” was held in Tršić from 2 to 4 October 2026. The conference was organized by the Association of Folklorists of Serbia, the University Library “Svetozar Marković” in Belgrade, the Institute for Literature and Arts in Belgrade, and the Vuk Karadžić Scientific-Educational Cultural Center in Tršić.
The conference focused on three main themes: “Hybridity in Folklore,” “The Folklore of Material Culture,” and “Contemporary Folklore Studies.”
Researchers from the Institute of Ethnography SASA also presented their research:

Noel Putnik, Senior Research Associate – “The Snake King with a Rolex: Humanoid Reptiles as a Contemporary Myth of a Hidden Elite”;
Katarina Mitrović Ražnatović, Research Associate – “Student Folklore at Universities in the United States: A Case Study of the University of Wyoming”;
Anđelka Živojinović, Research Trainee – “The Earth Remembers: The Folkloric Codification of Industrial Pollution in the Municipality of Loznica.”
