We are pleased to inform that the project of the SASA Institute of Ethnography Heritage of Emancipation: Empowering Roma Women through Networks of Solidarity (HEROINES) received funds for its implementation at the “Public call for citizen science research projects” announced by the Center for The Promotion of Science. We are particularly proud of the fact that our proposal is one of 6 (out of 130 submitted project proposals from all research fields) that will be financed, ranking fourth on the final list.

The project is focused on the emancipation of Roma women in Serbia, while recognizing and addressing existing limitations in similar research. The project is conceived as a collaborative program aimed at partnering with the community using a community mapping approach. This approach is based on active participation and direct engagement of the community in data gathering. The end result of the project will be a Manual for community mapping, as well as a publication and exhibition on the emancipation of Roma women.

The SASA Institute of Ethnography is the project coordinator, and the Faculty of Philosophy University of Belgrade and Roma Women Center BIBIJA project partners. The leader of the project is Ivan Đorđević, PhD, senior research associate of the SASA Institute of Ethnography.
