As part of the Researchers` Night, Katarina Mitrović, PhD, research associate of the SASA Institute of Ethnography, gave lectures at the “1,300 Corporals” School in Zvezdara. Three short lectures were held for students of different grades, during which the cultural horizon of the prairie zone of North America was described. The presentation highlighted, on the one hand, the influence of the educational system and boarding schools on, and the myth of, on the other, modelling the linguistic and religious identity of the North American Indians. In order to make the presentation more interesting, Katarina Mitrović showed the students, as well as various objects that testify to the cowboy folklore of the described regions, a bag that contained cedar and sage that is used as a charm by the Arapahos, and a turtle-shaped doll that is related to their myth of origin.
