On Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 12 PM, in the SASA building (Knez Mihailova 36, 1st floor, room 102), Milina Ivanović Barišić, PhD, will give a lecture titled "SMS and Viber Messages - Research Experience." Modern life is characterized by an increasingly rapid flow of information. New technologies are gaining significance, leading to the emergence of new forms of communication. In this context, mobile phones hold a special place. They not only facilitate the "closeness" of interlocutors but have also fostered the creation of a special type of communication—communication through shorter written texts, known as messages. This form of communication occurs in almost all everyday situations and life circumstances. Milina Ivanović Barišić's, PhD, interest in this type of creativity dates back to the early beginnings of its emergence. Over time, she has conducted several studies on the contexts in which SMS communication is prevalent (holiday greetings, messages about love and eroticism, messages during the pandemic, etc.). The occasion for the lecture titled "SMS and Viber Messages – Research Experience" is her authored monograph: "SMS and Viber Messages – A Message for Everyone and Every Occasion," published in 2023 as part of the Special Editions of the SASA Institute of Ethnography.
