During her stay in Serbia, Jovana Diković, PhD, an economic anthropologist and lecturer at the Universities of St. Gallen and Freiburg, visited the
Institute of Ethnography SASA, where she began her professional career, and on that occasion received the Award of the Institute of Ethnography
SASA for published results of ethnological and anthropological research. Diković, PhD, was unable to attend the official award ceremony held in
December 2025.

On 23 December 2025, the Institute of Ethnography SASA presented its Awards for the four-year period 2022–2025, recognizing the publication
of results of ethnological and anthropological research in monographs. The awarded works included Dr Jovana Diković’s monograph ''The Laissez-Faire Peasant: Post-Socialist Rural Development in Serbia'', as well as ''The Untold Journey of the Nazarene Emigration from Yugoslavia to North America'' by Aleksandra Đurić Milovanović, PhD, Principal Research Fellow at the Institute for Balkan Studies SASA. In addition to the
awards for published monographs, a Special Award was presented to Professor Emeritus Ivan Kovačević, PhD, of the Department of Ethnology and
Anthropology at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade, for his overall work and outstanding contribution to ethnological and
anthropological research, its organization, implementation, and publication, as well as to the development of ethnological and
anthropological institutions.

Diković’s visit also provided an opportunity to meet with colleagues and discuss her professional journey to date, as well as the lasting
ties she has developed with the Institute of Ethnography SASA over the years. The Institute is particularly pleased that one of its former colleagues has received the Institute’s Award for a monograph based on her long-term research.

The Institute of Ethnography SASA congratulates Jovana Diković, PhD, on this recognition and wishes her continued success in her academic and
professional career.
