On October 6, 2024, the six-day training for Roma women trainers on personal initiative, transformative leadership, and women's entrepreneurship was successfully completed. Organized and conducted by the team from the Institute of Ethnography SASA with the support of the World Bank, the training was aimed at empowering Roma women both personally and economically, with the goal of creating resilient and effective leaders who will advocate for and implement inclusive policies and practices within their communities. This training is a unique combination of the World Bank's Transformative Grassroots Leadership Training and the evidence-based Personal Initiative (PI) Training, tailored to the specific needs of Roma women in Serbia. Following the training, 9 Roma women from Belgrade, Novi Sad, Pirot, Kostolac, Osečina, Kragujevac, Niš, and Smederevska Palanka became certified trainers in personal initiative and leadership.
The next phase of the project will involve implementing the personal initiative, transformative leadership, and women's entrepreneurship training within Roma communities, under the supervision of the project team from Belgrade, including Dr. Ivan Đorđević, Dr. Milena Jokanović, Dr. Bojana Bogdanović, Dr. Marija Đorđević, Dr. Miloš Rašić, Dr. Ljiljana Pantović, MA Sonja Radivojević, and MA Lazar Barać.
All activities are being carried out as part of a project led by the Institute of Ethnography SASA, in cooperation with the Institute for Entrepreneurship (Germany), with the support of the World Bank.
