Intangible cultural heritage and ethnic diversity-field research of Banat

This scientific conference represents one of the results of the work on the projects of the SASA Institute of Ethnography related to Banat, and above all the project Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Multiethnic Communities of Banat, which was financed by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia in 2013 and 2014. The goal of the project was to identify, research and document various forms of the intangible cultural heritage of Banat, with an emphasis on the affirmation of those elements that are not limited to one ethnic community, but represent the product of common life in this specific multiethnic and multicultural environment. In addition to associates on the project, several other researchers who had been dealing with the topic of intangible cultural heritage of Banat for years, were invited. Presentations and discussions included the issues related to concepts, meanings and ways of maintaining this heritage in the communities, the problems of its scientific research as well as its documentation and protection. The presented results will be used as guidelines for further research.
